Susan Beth Heckla-Larson, 64 of Valparaiso, IN, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. She was born February 14, 1961, in Chicago, IL to the late Raymond and Katherine (Dietz) Heckla. Sue graduated from Immaculata High School in Chicago and attended DeVry University. She made her career as a Secretary and Typist at the John Hancock Building in Chicago. Sue was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the MS Society, and the Parkinson’s Foundation. Sue had volunteered at Porter Memorial Hospital, bringing comfort and prayers to patients. She loved animals, especially dogs, was an active dancer, and enjoyed music and playing the organ. Sue was a wonderful friend who liked to talk on the phone and write letters to cheer others up. She enjoyed quality time with her husband, Ron, watching movies on the couch with their dog, and just talking.

On June 5, 2010, Sue married Ronald Larson, who survives. Sue was also surrounded by loving and compassionate friends, family, and neighbors throughout her life, including: Marilyn Domsic, Kathy Kerwin, Peggy Wirth, Janet Krok, Eva Dille, Rosemarie Tosh, Matt & Laurie McKim, Curtis & Danielle Coleman, Petar, Myrtle, Dutch, Julie, R.J., and Dylan.

A visitation will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Wanatah Funeral Chapel, 309 N. Main Street, Wanatah, IN. A funeral mass will begin on Monday at 12:15 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 204 N. Ohio Street, Wanatah, IN, with burial to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ron Larson.
