Ingrid Anderson, 90 of Valparaiso, peacefully passed away Sunday, May 25, 2025, at the home of her daughter, Carol. She was born April 14, 1935, in Hamburg, Germany to Erik and Anna (Wilke) Von Mueller. Ingrid spent the first 15 years of her life in Germany and then arrived in the United States in 1950.  Her stepfather, Anastassi Kobyak, was hired by Valparaiso University as a professional cabinetmaker and Trinity Lutheran Church sponsored her family. Living through World War II in Germany shaped a remarkable personality and some incredible stories.

Ingrid worked for 15 years for the dental practice of Dr. LaCount. She enjoyed sewing, sailing, cooking and was savvy with technology.  Her family was everything to her. Ingrid enjoyed all her grandchildren, but had a special relationship with her youngest granddaughter, Julie Spaulding, with Down Syndrome, in helping her reach her goals.

On July 1, 1960, Ingrid married Maurice Anderson, who preceded her in death in 2013. She is survived by children: Deborah Anderson Holthouse (Dan) of Lake Placid, FL, Susan Ruge Engles (Rick) of Crownsville, MD, Dr. John Robert Ruge (Melissa) of Chicago, IL, Julie Anderson Velardo (Dr. Bernie) of Charlotte, NC, Carol Anderson Spaulding (Bob) of Valparaiso, IN; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Ingrid Von Mueller. She was preceded in death by her parents, Erik and Anna Von Mueller; stepfather, Anastassi Kobyak; and brother, Karl Von Mueller.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a memorial service beginning at 12:00 p.m.

GUESTBOOK

My condolences to the entire family, I had the pleasure of doing Ingrids' hair for several years. She was a special lady, always interesting to visit with and obviously loved her family. I was able to continue hearing about her after I retired from doing hair from our mutual friend Nancy Paarlberg and that was a real gift. She will definitely be missed. -Kathy James
