Lola J. Schroeder, 90 of Walkerton, IN, formerly of Kouts, IN, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2025. She was born February 19, 1935, in Kouts to the late Willard Sutter and Lillian (Martin) Sutter Steinhilber. Lola graduated from Kouts High School in 1953, and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kouts, where she was baptized in 1952. Faith and family were most important to Lola. She was a talented embroiderer who made baby blankets for all of her grandchildren and many of her great-grandchildren. Lola enjoyed singing, cheering on the Chicago Cubs, and spending time with family. She will be dearly missed.
On June 6, 1953, Lola married Charles F. Schnekenburger, who preceded her in death in 1969. On December 18, 1970, she married Harold A. Schroeder, who preceded her in death in 2003. She is survived by children: Teri (Garry) Whittington, Kathy (Greg) Cummings, Karin (Gary) Hinton, Leigh Ann (Doug) Hofferth, Susan (Don) Cooley, Sally Krenke, and Tom (Becky) Schroeder; daughter-in-law, Joanne Schnekenburger; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and another on the way; 2 great great grandchildren; and brother, Will (Chris) Sutter. She was preceded in death by her son, Chuck Schnekenburger; sisters: Donna Strong, Marjorie Tomerlin, and Myrna Noel; and son-in-law, Ted Hofferth.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. CST at Kosanke Funeral Home, 309 S. Main St., Kouts. The funeral service will begin on Friday at 10:30 a.m. CST at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 507 S. Rose Ave., Kouts, with burial to follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Lola was a shining light at Calvary. I am saddened to hear of her passing. My sympathy to all the family especially to Leigh Ann and Doug and her family. I know she is singing with the angels in heaven and maybe causing a little fun too. -Barb Cole
