Kathleen J. Hittle, 76 of Chesterton, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2025. She was born on February 20, 1949 in Gary, Indiana, the daughter of Micky Alexander and Ann (Gullege) Sullivan. A graduate of Portage High School, Kathy worked as a hostess at the Viking Chili Bowl and Round the Clock. She found enjoyment in horseback riding, riding motorcycles, cooking, quilting, sewing, and crocheting. Kathy loved spending time with her family, and she will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
On April 6, 1971, Kathy married Ben Hittle who survives along with their daughters, Kimberly Mitchell and Peggy (Roger) Alter; grandchildren, Danielle, Mercedes, Leslie, Shyanne, Desirae, Montgomery, and Robert; 7 great grandchildren; and her brother, Howard “Bobby” Koenig. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Wendy Boyke, stepson, Dennis Hittle; and sisters, Cindy Allen and Melody Bunker.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a Funeral Service beginning at 1:00 PM. Following services, cremation will take place at Angelcrest Crematory, Valparaiso. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
