Jeffrey N. Neumeier, 57, of Valparaiso, Indiana passed away Sunday, October 12, 2025 at Northwest Health Porter. He was born June 17, 1968 in Neubrucke, Germany to Dr. Thomas & Shirley Ann (Endres) Neumeier where his father was serving as a U.S. Army dentist. Jeff graduated from Menominee High School in Michigan and received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan. He began his professional career with Bethlehem Steel in Burns Harbor, Indiana before transitioning duties to become an Environmental Engineer with NiSource for over 25 years.

Beyond his career, Jeff was deeply involved in his community. For nearly two decades, he was a dedicated volunteer with Valparaiso Pop Warner Football, serving as coach, board member, and equipment manager. His commitment to the organization earned him the Curtis Zook Volunteer of the Year award in both 2012 and 2022. In the spirit of the Upper Peninsula, Jeff loved the outdoors and nature. Hunting, fishing and birdwatching were only a few of the natural pursuits he looked forward to. And, if you were one of his neighbors, you could look forward to a helping hand with whatever project you allowed to cross his line of vision.

Survivors include his children: Jeffrey (Emily) Neumeier & Suzanne Neumeier, the mother of his children, Lori Wynn - of South Carolina, brothers; Charlie (Chris) Neumeier of Green Bay, Wisconsin & Bruce Neumeier of Menominee, Michigan, niece, Stephanie Neumeier, nephew, Dalton (Natalie) Neumeier, and his first granddaughter due to be added to the family in January. He was preceded in death by his parents and Brett, the beloved family dog, who was truly the best companion anyone could ask for.

A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held Saturday, October 18th from 11:30 am – 2:30 pm at Peddlers Pizza Pub Sidebar in downtown Valparaiso. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Valparaiso Pop Warner Football or his children, Jeffrey and Suzanne. We are deeply grateful for the ICU doctors, nurses, and staff at Northwest Health Porter for their unwavering care, compassion, and dedication during Jeff’s time with them. We will forever be thankful for the comfort they provided during such a difficult time.

GUESTBOOK

Big part of my childhood! Always enjoyed hanging out over at the house growing up. Coached me all the way through pop warner and will be deeply missed by the entire Crossin family! -Brody Crossin

Even though I did not know Jeff as well as others, his kindness and compassion were shared with me during our interactions. He came into our extended family through my brother. He was gracious, funny, and loved to be outside. He shared his garden and firewood with me on many occasions. I wish his two beautiful children, whom are known as siblings to my nephews they are so close, peace and healing during an extremely difficult time. All the best wishes to his new grandchild in January. -Smith Family

I had the privilege of working with Jeff on the Pop Warner Board and many Sundays working the football games with him. He was so dedicated to the organization and the boys and girls who played football and cheered. He is missed. I’m so sorry for your loss. Prayers to your family. -Kelli Ellis
