Steven Lee Vander Molen, 64 of Valparaiso, IN, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 2, 2026. He was born March 6, 1961, in Chicago, IL, to Richard and Janet (Deddo) Vander Molen. In his free time, Steve enjoyed playing trivia, reading books, and watching movies. He also loved to dote on his cats, Henry and Emily. Steven was a loving son, brother, and uncle who will be dearly missed.
Steve is survived by his sister, Cheryl Gilbert of Valparaiso, IN; brother, Robert (Krista) Vander Molen of Gilbert, AZ; nieces: Amanada, Alyssa, and Aubrea; great niece, Avery; great nephew, Barrett; aunt, Donna Parker; several cousins; and his beloved cat, Henry. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Janet Vander Molen; and cherished cat, Emily.
Private services will be held for Steve. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Independent Cat Society, 4061 S. County Line Road, Westville, IN 46391.
