Linda Leigh Townsend, 73, of Valparaiso passed away peacefully at home with her family on Thursday, January 15, 2026. She was born May 6, 1952, in Youngstown, Ohio to Edgar & Esther (Hassenpflugh) Rager, graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1970, and received an associate’s degree of Applied Science in Office Management from Ivy Tech in 2006. Linda made her career with Bethlehem Steel as a Quality Assurance Clerk for many years. Linda enjoyed tending her flower garden at home, vacationing in Cozamel, Mexico, and accompanying Ian on his dive trips to Bonaire in the Netherlands Antilles.
On April 15, 1988, she married Ian Townsend who survives along with their son, Justin Townsend of Valparaiso, siblings: Fred Rager (Bonnie) of Valparaiso, Cindy Nuener (Brian) of Phoenix, Arizona, Gwendolyn Myers (Ron) of Logansport, many loving nieces, nephews, cousins & friends, and her beloved and spoiled Shih Tzu, “Spike”. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Following cremation at Angelcrest Crematory a private family ceremony will be held to honor Linda’s life.
