David B. Mohlke, 65, of Valparaiso, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2026 after a year-long battle with throat and lung cancer. Dave was born on December 12, 1960 in Michigan City to Ronald and Nancy (Gearhart) Mohlke. He was a 1979 graduate of Rogers High School and worked in the bail bonding business for 25 years.
Dave married Grace A. Coursel in 1989 and had two daughters, Sarah and Megan. Dave enjoyed gardening, riding his Harley, mushroom hunting, afternoon beers at Duffy’s Place, watching Westerns, and playing and watching golf. He always had a joke up his sleeve, a smirk on his face, a beer in his hand, and the most beautiful tomato and flower plants in his garden. For the last 20 years, Dave had a laser engraving business and enjoyed selling his engraved items at festivals with his wife.
Dave is survived by his wife, Grace of Valparaiso; daughters Sarah Johnson of Michigan City and Megan Saltsman of La Porte; and brother Howard (Jill) Mohlke of La Porte. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronnie.
There will be a celebration of life in the Spring.
