Marcyann Rita Hinton, 89 of Valparaiso, passed away Monday, April 20, 2026. She was born on November 27, 1936 in Hammond, Indiana to the late, Joseph C. and Marcella V. (Dzialakiewicz) Jostes. A 1955 graduate of Dyer High School, Marcyann worked various jobs over the years to care for her family and enjoyed sewing, quilting, and knitting. She loved to travel with her husband, Jack, to their favorite snowbird spot, Gulf Shores, Alabama and trips to Smokey Mountains. She had a big heart for her dogs, especially Teddy. Most of all she cherished spending time with her family.
On May 19, 1956, Marcyann married Jacky L. “Jack” Hinton who preceded her in death in 2004. She is survived by her children, Gary (Karin) Hinton, Kathryn (Jeffery) Hinton-Spiegel, and Lisa Nisle; grandchildren, Amanda Nisle, Garrett (Mia) Nisle, Andrea (Charlie) Manzuk-Rayder, Peter (Kellie) Manzuk. Matthew (Kate) Hofferth, Michael (Allison) Hofferth, Mark (Carla) Hofferth, and Morgan (Zac) Peterson; 9 great grandchildren; and brother, Timothy (Sandra) Jostes. Marcyann was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Gloria Hinton; son-in-law, Walter Nisle; and brother, Terry Jostes.
A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 9:00-11:00 AM at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a Memorial Service beginning at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gabriel’s Home of Valparaiso.
