Cindy Ann Henry, 72 of Valparaiso, IN, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2026. She was born December 13, 1953, in Washington County, PA, to the late Thomas M. Pemberton and Ruth Ann (Miller) Pemberton. Cindy began her career working as a secretary with Century 21, where she met her husband, Jim. She then went on to co-own and operate Affordable Home Improvements for many years with her husband. Recently, Cindy became a salesclerk at the Rise ’n Roll Bakery in Valparaiso, where she worked for the past 7 years, and was beloved by her customers and co-workers alike. She also served as the owner and head baker of her own company, Custom Cookies, which allowed Cindy to showcase her baking and decorating talents and brought great joy to the recipients of her desserts.
Cindy was member of Unity Bible Church in Valparaiso, where she helped lead the Ladies Group. Her faith was an important and unwavering part of Cindy’s life. She also was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary, both in Valparaiso, which allowed Cindy to honor local Veterans with her time and delectable desserts. Cindy was well known for her happy disposition, bright smile, and contagious laugh. Her sweet nature, caring heart, and generous spirit have blessed the people around her throughout her life. Cindy will be remembered for her love of God, family, and country. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
On September 24, 1983, Cindy married James C. Henry, Sr., who preceded her in death in 2019. She is survived by children: Richard Tabor, Angie Henry, Diana (Joseph) Cachey III, James (Dona) Henry, Jr., Richard Henry, and Theresa (Jeff) Rosenthal; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and stepsister, Becky Bair Graham. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Patricia Ann Vasas, and Thomas E. Pemberton.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road, Valparaiso. The funeral service will begin on Tuesday, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with additional visitation at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Cindy’s name to Unity Bible Church.
