Amy R. Barrett, 65, of Valparaiso passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2022. She was born January 18, 1957 in Valparaiso to Marvin & Evelyn (Maudlin) Stoner and graduated from Washington Township High School in 1975. Amy began her career as a dental assistant, but quickly found her niche for eclectic employment in a myriad of positions culminating as a caregiver for children. Creative talents that spanned nearly all categories of crafts, being able to find the bright side of every situation, and copious laughter & hugs defined Amy. Despite challenges in her life, she seemed to make the best of every situation and came out with a smile on her face determined to be a positive influence on all of those around her.
Survivors include her daughters; Megan Sutton of Fort Wayne, IN & Penny (Bill) Kyle of New Carlisle, IN, her mother, Evelyn Stoner of Valparaiso, sister, Beth (Tim) Horan of Valparaiso, brother, Tom (Jackie) Stoner of Valparaiso, grandchildren; Monty, Charlie, Newton, Agatha, Simon & Annie, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held Friday from 4 – 7 pm at Moeller Funeral Home, Valparaiso. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 noon on Saturday at the funeral home with cremation to follow. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lyme Disease Foundation, New Haven CT.

Like so many, I'm going to really miss Amy too. What a sweetheart and what a trooper. She was gracious, generous, funny, loving, creative and so much more. My deepest condolences. I have been bedridden for 5 years with Lyme disease. Amy read about my story in the paper and came to bring me gifts and visit me. One of the most selfless humans I’ve ever met. She sent me the most uplifting messages almost daily. Always trying to bring me hope. What an earth angel she was.
