PennyJo Morris, 59 of Portage, passed away Monday, October 31, 2022. She was born June 6, 1963 in Gary, Indiana to Donald and Ruth (Frank) Morris. PennyJo taught high school English at Chesterton High School. Known as an encourager of her students, she always made time to attend their sporting and academic events. PennyJo was a follower of Christ and strong in her faith. She enjoyed photography, butterflies, the beach, cooking, and baking, and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
PennyJo is survived by her mother, Ruth Morris; daughters, Jaymi (Leigh) Weiss, Melita (Matt) McGuirl, and Erika Veatch; granddaughters, Adaya and Brielle; brother, Donald (Norma) Morris; and her nieces, Alexandria and Ana. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, November 13th at 2:30 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church; 1700 Monticello Park Dr, Valparaiso, IN 46383. We are inviting everyone to wear purple, if they wish, in her memory as it was her favorite color. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made for the CHS Scholarship Fund in memory of PennyJo Morris through the attached link.
