Barbara Jane Freeman, 72 of Valparaiso, passed away on April 26, 2023. She was born on August 31, 1950 in Ishpeming, MI to Clifford and Mary Jane (St. Andre) Matthews and graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in 1969. Barb was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, always offering a bright smile, warm hug, and her nurturing heart. She loved being cozy, finding peaceful enjoyment in rainy days and pajamas. She will be remembered for her love for her children and babies, sassy personality, generous nature, compassionate heart, and unwavering strength. She will be dearly missed.
On April 18, 1970, in Lansing, MI, Barbara married Michael Freeman, who survives, along with children: Amy (John) Hirsh, Rebecca (Rick) Lefort, Michael (Katelyn) Freeman, and Kimberly (Kris) Reberg; siblings: Dennis (Margaret) Matthews, Daniel Matthews, Patricia (Robert) Langenbacher, and Darlene (Bill) Pancost; grandchildren: Dakotah Wilson, Hunter Freeman, Hayden Freeman, John Michael Hirsh, Kade Lefort, Andrew Hirsh, Kalysa Reberg, Kassidy Reberg, Chloe Hirsh, and Kaia Freeman. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Geneva Matthews.
