Alvin Louis Whited, 90 of Kouts, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023. He was born March 30, 1933 in Livonia, MI to Alva and Lillian (Roberts) Whited. Al was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and retired as a supervisor from McGill Manufacturing, working there for 33 years. He was a member of the Kouts Christian Church, where he served as treasurer, and was a member of the Kouts Volunteer Fire Department. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Al will be greatly missed.
On June 24, 1955, Al married his loving wife of 68 years, Bernice Dowd, who survives along with their son, David (Kelly) Whited-Ford; grandchildren, Erin Whited-Ford, Caleb (Allison) Ford, and Kevin Whited-Ford; great grandson, Simon Allen Ford; and siblings, Edna Shull and Fred (Sherri) Whited. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Robin; and siblings, Sallie, Jenni, Darwin, and Sherman.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 10:00-11:00 AM at Kouts Christian Church 208 S. Polland Ave., Kouts, with a Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Kouts. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Kouts Volunteer Fire Department.

So sorry for your loss. After Al retired he was my driver to and from various airports as I traveled for my job at McGill. We had many delightful conversations. I am glad and thankful I got to know him. -Bonnie Artley
