Amy Vaughan Bullert, 29, of LaCrosse, Indiana, passed away Monday, July 7, 2025, at IU Methodist in Indianapolis. Amy was born February 9, 1996, at Porter Memorial Hospital in Valparaiso, Indiana, to Austin and Lisa Bullert.
From the very beginning, Amy touched hearts with her easygoing manner and brilliant smile, which could light up ten thousand rooms. She was the favorite of her older siblings, Stefannie (Branden) Rust, Christopher (Kayla Wojcik) Bullert, and Kimberly (Shane) Johnson.
Amy went to Wanatah School and then, in 2014, she was able to celebrate graduating with her many friends from LaCrosse High School.
Amy's love language was cooking amazing meals and desserts, creating cards and art for the people she loved, and doting on her nieces, McKenzie, Madalynn, and Addison, and nephew, Isaiah Rust, and bonus nieces and nephews, Lizzy, DJ, Alex, Bella, and Layla. She took great joy in planning parties and was fantastic at spontaneous adventures. She was the auntie who always said yes.
She found her partner, Dakota Bradney, and loved being a bonus mom to Braelynn. Together, they shared a love of fishing and the outdoors. What she really loved most was animals and nature. She was a kitten whisperer and could take in a desperate new orphan kitten, feed and care for it, watch them thrive, and then see them off to loving homes. She volunteered through the Starke County Humane Society for 15 years, and this was her joy. She also took great pride and joy in volunteering at American Legion Post 451, Michigan City, serving the Veterans food, smiles, and kindness.
She is survived by her family named above, as well as her dear grandparents, Roger and Judy Bullert; aunts Angela (Jason) Reiff and Andrea (Chris) Weigand, Jean Neumann, Cathy Yanda, and Judy McDaniel; Uncle Adam (Jennifer Serles) Ronco; and her many loved cousins, as well as extended and American Legion Riders family. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Ronald and Karen Vaughan, and beloved aunts Ruth (John) Piasecke and Peggy Ronco.
Amy always dreamed of traveling. In lieu of a funeral, as we know she wasn't that girl, the family wishes to invite all who loved her or whose lives she touched to join them in a Celebration Bon Voyage for a life well lived and for fighting the fight with grace and positivity on Saturday August 2, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the American Legion Post 451, 121 Skwiat Legion Avenue in Michigan City, Indiana.
Donations may be made directly to the family or Starke County Humane Society.
