B. Diane Clemens, 65, of Wanatah passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023. She was born November 11, 1957 in Weirton, WV to Russell & Barbara (Martin) Saunders, and attended Valparaiso High School before graduating from New Prairie High School. Diane made her career as an Office Manager for State Farm Insurance, serving nearly 40 years in the agencies of Tom Bricker, and Sheree Warnke. She was a long-time member of Heritage Lutheran Church in Valparaiso where she served on the Altar Guild.
The three “C”s continued to figure big in her life; camping, cooking & canning. Camping with what she lovingly referred to as the “Wanatonians”, cooking the many favorite recipes for her family & friends, and canning nearly anything considered edible for long term placement in her pantry. Knitting, volunteering for countless community events, and serving as Girl Scout leader brought her joy. But it was participating as a Boy Scout leader while her son pursued his Eagle Scout recognition that brought great pride.
On September 22, 1990 she married Dennis Clemens who survives along with their son, Jorden Clemens of Wanatah, siblings, Russell (Nadine) Saunders of LaPorte, James (Michelle) Saunders of Westville, Denise (Lawrence) Maitland of South Bend, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunt Bella. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A visitation will be held Saturday from 10 am – 12 noon at Heritage Lutheran Church, 308 N. Washington St., Valparaiso with funeral service beginning at 12:00 noon, Rev. Stan Temme officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the family.
