Barbara Ann Briggs, 72, of Valparaiso passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 17, 2025. She was born June 6, 1952, in Stickney, IL to Edwin & Virginia (Lewan) Zale and graduated from Morton West High School in Cicero, IL in 1970 where she had very fond memories of performing on their Pom Pom Squad for four years. Barbara made her career as an administrative assistant, beginning with Task Force Tips in Valparaiso before transitioning to Valparaiso University. She was a member of the Valparaiso Country Club, loved to travel and bake, cherished her role as grandmother, and had a perpetual sense of humor that could immediately endear you to her or blindside you by its witty nature.
On June 5, 2007 she married Kevin Briggs who survives along with children: Heather (Richard) Berrie of Boynton Beach, FL, Edward Rusnak of Nashville, TN, Bradley (Lydia) Briggs of Cedar Lake, IN, Nicole (Daniel) Ingram of Plymouth, IN, and grandchildren: Lukas Freher, Edward “Tripp” Rusnak, Parker Rusnak, Annali Briggs, Lincoln Briggs, Eryn Ingram, Addisyn Ingram, Natalie Berrie & Kayle Berrie. She was preceded in death by one son, Adam Rusnak in 1999 and her parents.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 27th from 4 – 6 pm at Moeller Funeral Home, Valparaiso. Barbara was fond of saying, “life is short, eat dessert first”, and she practiced what she preached.
