Barbara Jo Linton, 78 of Valparaiso, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023. She was born on May 8, 1945 in San Francisco, CA to Frederick and Odetta (Baxter) Spruitenburg. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, and sister, spending her life raising her family. Along with her late husband, Barbara shared a love of animals and volunteered their time at Giant Paw Prints Rescue in Westville. Her passions were gardening, particularly tending to her fairy garden, enjoying the flowers and various plants, and watching birds—to which she could tell you about each one. She will be remembered for her strength, kind heart, beautiful soul, and love for her family. She will be dearly missed.
In 1962, Barbara married Larry Linton, who preceded her in death in 2021. Survivors include their daughters: Vicki (John) McNeal and Debbie Linton; siblings: Fiona (Jim) Irwin, Ron Spruitenburg, and Mike (Cathy) Nolan; granddaughters, Ariel “AJ” Linton and Karissa “Kiwi” Linton; brother-in-law, David (Sharon) Linton; sister-in-law, Sharon Gott; beloved felines: Oscar and Billy Bob; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Per Barbara’s wishes, there will be no services held at this time. Memorial donations may be made in Barbara’s name to Giant Paw Prints Rescue, Westville, IN or an animal rescue of your choice.
