Bernard Paul Golden
1955 – 2025
Valparaiso, Indiana
Bernard Paul Golden was called to eternal life on May 30, 2025 in Valparaiso, Indiana at the age of 70. Known to family and friends as Paul, he lived a life committed to his work, and to the quiet beauty of the natural world.
Paul was born to Marian and Leonard Golden in St Austell, Cornwall, United Kingdom, and immigrated to the United States as a young boy with his parents and sister, beginning a new chapter of life that would be defined by diligence and determination. He graduated from Portage High School in 1973, later attending Cedarville University and completing a four-year Steamfitter Apprenticeship. A man of both mind and hands, Paul built a distinguished career in process piping, earning his Master Plumber license and worked as a mechanical contractor for decades. He remained committed to his craft and never retired—an enduring testament to his work ethic and pride in his trade.
Married for nearly 50 years, Paul is survived by his wife Vicky Golden and their four children: Sarah Golden, Zachary Golden, Corydon Golden (Kristina), Keely Golden. Paul was also a proud grandfather to Henry Golden. Paul was a guiding presence in the lives of his four siblings: Cherie Westover (Steve), Debbie Golden, Jonathon Golden, (Brenda) Timothy Golden and his mother, Marian Golden , Godson, Benjamin Delzer along with numerous beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Leonard B. Golden.
Paul’s passions extended far beyond his profession. He was a lifelong athlete who found joy in cycling, cross-country skiing, climbing and coaching youth soccer. His love for movement and mentorship left a meaningful impact on the communities he was part of. Paul was also deeply drawn to nature, music, and sailing—quiet pursuits that reflected his contemplative spirit and appreciation for life’s deeper rhythms.
Whether he was solving complex mechanical challenges or navigating the waters of Lake Michigan, Paul did so with a steady hand and a determined heart. He will be remembered not only for what he built with tools and blueprints, but in the lives of those who knew him.
Paul will be remembered in a private ceremony with Family.
GUESTBOOK
Paul and his family were good friends of our family after meeting and serving together at church for several years. When I was between careers and needed work, Paul gave me a job when there weren't many to be found, and I'm forever grateful. I also appreciated the opportunity to work with Zach as he provided me on-the-job training. We'll always remember with great fondness the wonderful times our families shared. Our hearts go out to Vicky, their children and grandson. -Ted Torau
Lenny and Paul [provided me with employment at a point in my life, I had no bright prospects. I was treated with respect throughout my time with them, good friends in a time of need. Good friends and great employers, RIP Paul, tell Lenny I expect to see him in the eternal life. May God bless you both. -Ron Griffin

I had only reconnected with Paul during our 50th PHS Class Reunion. I enjoyed seeing his Posts online from time to time. My Heart goes out to you Vicky your Children and the rest of the Family. R.I.P. Paul...until we meet again! Tim knows how to get in touch with me if you just need an ear to bend. -Diana Stanley
So sorry to learn of the passing of my cousin Paul. Fond memories of him when we travelled to the U.S in 1973 and him taking the time to make our stay enjoyable, even when we experienced being stopped, while he was driving his Dad’s car, by the local police due to a defective rear light. I think when he explained we were from England and he was showing us around no ticket was issued. Early morning runs with him and playing tennis with no net is another memory. Our condolences go out to Vicky and his children and grandson. -Terry & Beryl Golden
