Betty Myrl Keaton, 82 of Valparaiso, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Friday, May 31, 2024.  She was born November 25, 1941, in Fordsville, KY, the daughter of Milton Nix and Eva (Voyles) Muffett.  Betty was a graduate of Merrillville High School and a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She devoted her life to caring for her beloved family, and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.  Betty will be remembered for her sweet demeanor and caring nature. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.
On September 5, 1959, in Merrillville, Betty married George “Sonny” Keaton who preceded her in death in 2008.  She is survived by her children, Deborah (Ronald) Boshart, Jacqueline (Lawrence) Hill, and George (Karen) Keaton; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; siblings, Floyd (Connie) Muffett, Brenda Imre, Debra (Russell) Layman; Dennis Muffett, and Eva Denise McKee; and many nieces and nephews.  Betty was also preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Eva and Floyd Muffett; father, Milton Nix; an infant son; grandson, Craig Boshart; and sisters, Bonnie Scott and Linda Syjut.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a Funeral Service beginning at 12:00 p.m.  Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.
