Brian Theodore Laik, 48 of Valparaiso, IN, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 13, 2023. He was born June 3, 1975, in West Allis, WI to James M. Laik and Judith I. (Alpner) Laik. Brian proudly served in the United States Navy, as an Advanced Medical Technician where he was stationed at the Naval Hospital in South Carolina. He graduated from Valparaiso High School, Purdue University, and Western Michigan University – Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Brian was an Attorney, Special Counsel to the Attorney General of the United States Virgin Islands.
Brian was very patriotic and loved learning about history.  He was a master at weaving facts about history into his everyday conversations.  Brian especially loved the history of Abraham Lincoln, the Constitution of the United States and the law.    Brian was known for his boundless generosity, great sense of humor and caring nature. His compassionate and friendly personality endeared him to those he met. Brian will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew him.
Brian is survived by his mother, Judith Laik; sisters: Colleen (Mary) Laik and Christine (Stephen) Miller and nephews: Nathan (Coral) Miller and Ned Miller; great nieces: Breena and Harloe Miller; and many friends and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his father, James M. Laik; and nephew, Ian James Miller.
Private family services were held at Moeller Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made in Brian’s name to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
