Bruce C. Bogan, 80, of Valparaiso passed away Monday, January 19, 2026. He was born July 30, 1945, to George K. & Esther G. (Edwards) Bogan and graduated from Valparaiso High School. Bruce made his career as a Metallurgical Quality Assurance expert with Bethlehem Steel Burns Harbor plant for 36 years, then at Steel Warehouse in South Bend for 10 years. He was a longtime member of Valparaiso Nazarene Church where he volunteered in every capacity that he was able. His morning routine always included trips to the Valpo YMCA for a physical and social workout. He continued the Bogan family tradition of delivering Meals-on-Wheels in Porter County which began with his parents, George & Esther Bogan and has continued for four generations. Bruce’s generous nature and people-oriented personality endeared him to countless contacts over his eight decades.
On June 3, 1967, he married the love of his life, Joan D. Batzka, who preceded him in death on November 11, 2003. Survivors include their daughter, Sherri C. Anderson and grandson, Joshua J. Nibbe of Valparaiso, sons-in-law: Jim D. Nibbe & Victor A. Anderson of Valparaiso, and siblings: Mary Bogan of Kouts & Kelly (Ruth) Bogan of Bloomington, IN. He was also preceded in death by one son, Scott Bruce Bogan on July 14, 2022.
A visitation will be held Sunday, January 25th from 1 - 4 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, Valparaiso. The funeral service will be held Monday, January 26th at Valparaiso Nazarene Church, 2702 E. Glendale Blvd. beginning at 10:30 a.m. with burial following at Salem Cemetery, Wanatah, next to his beloved wife. A luncheon will follow at Valparaiso Nazarene Church.
