Cara Jo Klockow, 43, of Valparaiso passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 8, 2022. She was born in April of 1978 in Columbus, IN to Carl J. & Connie R. (Wyrick) Dunbar, graduated from West Lafayette High School, received a B. S. from Purdue University, and a master’s degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Indianapolis. Cara practiced her profession with Select Physical Therapy in Hebron but was most passionate about serving as a local Coordinator and Director of Hope in View Child Sponsorship where she worked directly with their Ethiopian staff. She was a member of Open Door Fellowship in Kouts where she and Scott had been active as Youth Group leaders. Cara enjoyed traveling, skiing, and any time spent with family and friends. Trips to the family cottage on Hudson Lake were cherished moments, the antics of each event seemingly etched into memory.

On July 6, 2002 she married Scott Klockow who survives along with their children, Yohanna, Lena & AJ Klockow all at home, her father, Carl Dunbar of Lafayette, sister, Carla Dunbar, brother, Curtis Dunbar, and her mothers-in-law, Jeanette (Donald) Schollenberger & Nancy Klockow. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Nessa in 2012, her mother, Connie Dunbar, and father-in-law, Gordon Klockow.

Private burial at Hopewell Mennonite Cemetery, Kouts will precede a celebration of life Friday beginning at 4:00 pm CST at Open Door Fellowship, 636 Baum’s Bridge Rd. Kouts, Pastor Jerry Kandel officiating.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hope in View Child Sponsorship.
