Carole Lee Schara, 76, of Valparaiso, formerly of Lowell passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 21, 2025. She was born May 31, 1949, in Chicago, IL to Gerard & Jane (Pawlak) Williamson and graduated from Tinley High School in 1967. Carole was positive to a fault, even having been reprimanded by her family for her optimism on occasion. She was considered to be the “garage sale queen” not only for her ability to glean the most useful items at any garage sale, but also for her ability to successfully sponsor these same events for charity. Her love of God, her husband and family also set her apart. This may have been due in large part to her amazing patience which was exemplified by her adoption and nurturing of various orphaned wildlife babies until they could be returned to nature.

On July 20, 1968 she married William A. Schara, Sr. who survives along with their children: William (Gönül) Schara, Jr., Joseph Schara, Matthew (Michelle) Schara, David (Lisa) Schara & Angela (Rodney) Townsend, grandchildren: Joseph Jr., Rebekah, Anne Marie, Brooke, Carole, Kendall, Marley, Elle, David Jr., Nathan, Taylor, Jemila, Honesty, Jakaya, Iysa & Navid, and siblings: Colleen Popp, Cathy Williamson, Michael Williamson, John Williamson, & Jodi Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Virginia Wesner.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 28th from 1 – 4 pm at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, IN 46383.  The funeral service will be held Monday, December 29th at the funeral home beginning at 10:30 am with burial to follow at Angelcrest Cemetery.
