Cassie L. Hunt, 87 of Valparaiso, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2024. He was born March 26, 1936 in Clay City, IL to Adam Cassie and Delores (Smith) Hunt. A Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Cassie retired from NIPSCO where he worked as a gas serviceman for 36 years. He was an avid long-distance bicyclist, riding up to 80 miles a day at age 85.
Cassie is survived by his children, Gregory (Leah) Cassie Hunt, Dawn Hunt, and Beth Hunt; grandchildren, Gregory, Jennifer, Seth (Emma), Joshua, and Lucas; companion, Arlene Gawrys; siblings, Beverly Gadd, Richard (Debbie) Hunt, Don (Candy) Hunt, Pam (Art) White, Barry Hunt, Randy (Debbie) Hunt, and Barbara (Mike) Kotys; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Edrie; and grandson, Brandon.
A visitation will be held February 17, 2024 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a funeral service beginning at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Make a Wish Foundation or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

So sad to hear of the passing of my uncle Sonny. Have so many wonderful memories of family gathers especially Thanksgivings and Hunt family summer birthday parties.
