Chad D. Elliott, 66, of Valparaiso, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025. He was born on March 25, 1959, in Valparaiso to Wayne and Arlene (Fitch) Elliott and graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1977. Chad was a hardworking man who built his life and reputation as a skilled plumbing contractor, proudly owning and operating Elliott Plumbing. He took great pride in his work and was known for his honesty, craftsmanship, and willingness to help anyone who needed a hand.
When he wasn’t working, Chad found peace on the water. He loved fishing on the local lakes, no matter the season. In the winter, when the ice was thick, you could find him out on the frozen lakes with his son, ice fishing, while his daughter glided across the ice nearby. His love for fishing and for the ice itself has carried on through his children and grandchildren. Chad also had a lifelong passion for hockey, both as a player in his younger years and as a devoted fan of his beloved Chicago Blackhawks. He had an appreciation for the simple joys of life like classic cars, motorcycles, a good day’s work, and the laughter of family.
Those who knew Chad will remember his strong work ethic, steady presence, and deep devotion to those he loved. He lived life on his own terms—rooted in loyalty, integrity, and love for his family.
Chad is survived by his children, Jane (Brian) Coslet of Valparaiso and Max (Ashley) Elliott of Hebron; his mother, Arlene “Lee” Elliott of Valparaiso; his sister, Susan (Mark) Freeman of Valparaiso; grandchildren, Jack and Lucy Coslet; and his partner, Lawanna Gee. He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Elliott.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 21st, from 3:00–5:30 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home in Valparaiso, followed by a private family memorial ceremony.
GUESTBOOK
I extend my deepest condolences to your family for your loss. I enjoyed Chad's sense of humor. I worked beside him in the late 80s and early 90s. I once saw take a cup and dip it in a toilet for a drink, which made the new guy at work throw up. It was a new toilet he installed so it had clean water in it. Thanks for the laughs Chad, you will be missed. -Seth Adam
