Charles U. Jared, 97 of Valparaiso, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024. He was born November 19, 1926 in Park County, Indiana to Perry and Linna (Cook) Jared. Charles graduated from Morgan Twp, High School and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked for McGill Manufacturing Electrical Division, retiring as a supervisor. Charles was a member of the Chesterton Church of Christ, enjoyed woodworking, and was a private pilot.
Charles is survived by his children, William Jared, Nancy Deal, and Bonnie (Tom) Dougherty; grandchildren, Whitney, Shelby, and Courtney Deal. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Carolyn in 2005 and his second wife, Betty in 2015; daughter-in-law, Earlene Jared; and son-in-law, Travis Deal.
In accordance with Charles’s wishes, no services will be held with a private burial at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.

I worked for many years with Chuck at McGill. As someone said, he was one of the good guys. He lived down the street from me on Eisenhower. I will never forget having a garage sale the summer after my parents died. Betty came by the shop, and your dad came by to check on me. He was always kind.
