Charlotte E. Hoefflicker, 93 of Winamac, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024. She was born October 28, 1930, in Gary, IN to the late William James Gray and Ida Mary (Roberts) Gray. Charlotte graduated from Merrillville High School, and made her career as a Librarian with the Lake Station Community Schools. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Winamac, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Lady Lions of Gary. Charlotte loved to read and spend time with her family. She also enjoyed feeding the hummingbirds at her home, and going fishing. Charlotte will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, which she passed along to her children, and her strong-will and determination throughout life’s challenges. She will be dearly missed.
On July 21, 1951, Charlotte married James E. Hoefflicker, who preceded her in death in 2001. She is survived by their children: Marilyn (Jerome) Steffus, Richard (Ginger) Hoefflicker, and Jim (Lisa) Hoefflicker, all of Valparaiso; grandchildren: Heather (Brian) Sweeney, Kelly Steffus, Marsha (Fiancé Dave) Hoefflicker, Roger (Stacy) Hoefflicker, Will (Mary) Hoefflicker, and Kacie (Dusten) Kohler; great-grandchildren: Kyle Sweeney, Kaitlyn (Nathan) Lowe, Alyssa (Shamas) McKee, Alex Sweeney, Brandon (Allyssa) Hoefflicker, Nicole Hoefflicker, Madison Sweeney, Samantha Duncan, Charlotte Duncan, Ryan Hoefflicker, Dalton Duncan, Sarah Duncan, Zayden Kohler, Mikah Kohler, Dean Hoefflicker; and great great grandson, James Lowe. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Gray; grandson, Joseph Hoefflicker; and dog, Duke.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road, Valparaiso, with a funeral service beginning at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Angelcrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Winamac, 77 E. 50 N., Winamac, IN 46996.
