Chester William Zell, 67 of Valparaiso, IN, passed away Friday, April 18, 2025. He was born February 18, 1958, in Valparaiso to Victor and Joan (Schenk) Zell. Chet graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1977, and went on to a career as a Truck Driver and Heavy Equipment Operator with the City of Valparaiso for over 30 years. He loved spending time with his beloved grandchildren, and taking care of the many stray cats who found him. Chet had a heart of gold, and will be remembered for his caring nature and generosity to others. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Chet is survived by his daughters: Laura Ruppitz of St. Petersburg, FL, and Dayna Zell of Valparaiso, IN; grandchildren: Mackenzie, Liam, and Mkayla; and siblings: Alan Zell, Bryan Zell, David Zell, Theresa Kark, Rose (Don) Zell, and Edward Zell. He was preceded in death by his parents: Victor and Joan Zell; and sisters: Patricia Zell and Vicki Zell.
