Clifford Wayne Steele, Sr., 61 of Portage, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025.  He was born on June 17, 1964 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Everett Ray and Dorothy (Akers) Steele.  Wayne made his career with Amtrak as a pipefitter. He was an avid fisherman, dog lover, and enjoyed cars, trips to the racetrack, camping, and walks on the beach with his wife and dogs.  Wayne loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  He always looked forward to fishing at Fox Lake.

On December 15, 1982, Wayne married Antoinette “Toni” Middleton, who survives along with their children, Clifford Wayne (Jamie) Steele, Jr., Monica (Chris) Thiel, and David Steele; grandchildren, Savanah, Sean, Amaya, Giana, Dylan, Sierra, Silas, and Sadie; siblings, Carol (Nick) Ress, Debbie Steele, Darrell Steele, and Tina Steele; and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 from 12:00-3:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the local Humane Society of your choice.
