Dale Brent Nelissen, 58, of Valparaiso passed away Monday, August 8, 2022. He was born May 1, 1964 in Valparaiso to Peter H. & Bjorg S. (Knutson) Nelissen, graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1982, and received Associates degrees from Vincennes University as a Tool & Die Maker, and Machinist. Dale began his career shortly thereafter with the Valparaiso Schools before employment with the Anderson Company. Dale also moved several times, living and working in Tennessee and San Antonio and Brownsville, Texas.
Dale was the youngest of 4 sons born into the Nelissen family. Dale had never met a stranger. He also had a great sense of humor and a great smile to go with that. Dale was a great uncle to his nephew Jeremy. Dale was a kid at heart, and it showed. He was always playful and fun to be around. Dale was inquisitive and young at heart. When you heard laughter, you knew Dale was close by. He was taken from us way too early this past week. May the memory of his proud Viking heritage, quality craftsmanship, and pleasant smile be the positive marks left on our minds as we remember Dale.
Survivors include his brothers; Jan (Elizabeth) Nelissen of Valparaiso, Leif Nelissen of Valparaiso, Nils (Katherine) Nelissen of North Richland Hills, Texas, and nephew, Jeremy Nelissen (Laura) of Austin, Texas. Dale was preceded in death by his parents.
Following cremation at Angelcrest Crematory a private family ceremony will be held.
