GUESTBOOK
I learned of Charlie’s passing on Tuesday from a mutual friend, which is devastating to many of us! We hung out regularly back in high school, and Charlie was famous for hauling all of us to away basketball games in “The Bus.” I helped him show cattle on occasion around the Midwest, and attended many a party with or hosted by Charlie with people from all over Porter County. Charlie was like the “social committee chair” for the KHS class of 1979. He will be missed! My thoughts, prayers, and condolences go out to his family… -John Shutske
This one is hard to digest. Even though years have passed since we last saw each other, Charlie was such an integral part of my childhood. He was my first crush, a wonderful prom date, and a staple of my senior year. I’ll never forget those nights driving around Kouts and Valpo in his big white truck, with Dina Coatsolonia and John Morgart, laughing and making memories that would last a lifetime. Charlie was more than a friend, he was a great guy and a cherished piece of my youth. I’m a rabid IU fan, but in honor of Charlie, I will proudly don the black and gold. Rest in peace Charlie. -Lisa Weaver
I offer my condolences to family and friends. -Ed Kosanke
My prayers are with family and friends. A friend of the families, -Bob Jorgensen
We bought a steer from Charlie in the fall of 1994, that Doug Moothart from Iowa had raised. That steer became Grand Champion Steer at the 1995 Indiana State Fair. Winning the State Fair was a big moment and memory for our family, but Charlie’s friendship meant even more. It was always fun to see him. My boys talked about how often they would see him at Purdue basketball games. He was a good man and will be missed. His friends and family are in our prayers. -Ron Pruet Family
My sincerest condolences to Charlie's Family!! I worked with Charlie for several years through Heinold. Wonderful Guy!! -Dale Schmitz

To the family of Charlie. I am fratenity brother of Charlie - was a great brother he was 3 years younger. Charlie was one of the nicest people I have ever known. I had lost track of him till my kids started hauling pigs to Heinhold from their 4-H project. He was great with my kids always took the time to visit with them everytime when they dropped off their pigs. I cought up Charlie again at St Joan of Arc. We always chated about Purdue sports. Charlie was always so positive about the direction of Purdue sports. He was good friend and absolootly a great guy. He will be missed. my condolences to his entire family. I apologize that I am not able to make visitation or the funeral. -Greg Ressler Tipton, IN
We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of the very best members of the John Purdue Club. Being in Seattle together before his passing is a memory we will always treasure, and his absence was felt profoundly during our time in the Bahamas two days later. His spirit, generosity, and unwavering passion for the Boilermakers touched everyone around him. He will be missed more than words can express. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and all who loved him. Boiler Up, forever in his honor. -Courtney Downey; Purdue Athletics

My husband and I lived in the house next to Hienhold Hog Market for over twenty years and Charlie was the manager the whole time we lived there. He was a wonderful neighbor and we would often wave to him and the staff that worked there. We knew most of them by name. We would go over to the business occasionally to bring garden produce or just say hello. Sad to hear that he didn’t get to retire. The last time we spoke to Charlie; he told us he hoped to retire in the next few years. He was a wonderful person. -Gina and Jeff Tull-Nunn
Mark & I were so saddened to hear at Mass this morning at St. Joan of Arc of Charlie’s passing. What a great guy always a joy to talk to!!! We connected as Purdue Livestock Alumni, always talking PU sports with Mark after Mass. Full of optimism, Charlie always looked for the positive no matter what. We will miss him greatly! -Madelyn Stanforth
