David Lloyd Sexton, 88 of Valparaiso, IN, passed away Monday, January 5, 2026. He was born March 20, 1937, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to the late Walter and Dorothy (Bennet) Sexton. David made his career as a Family Therapist in Valparaiso for over 50 years, endearing himself to countless patients and families. His warm and welcoming personality allowed those in his presence to be instantly at ease. David loved to meet and get to know people, listening with an empathetic ear. He also enjoyed time at Pretty Lake with his grandchildren, being in nature, and puttering around his yard. David’s legacy will be that of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved his family dearly.
On January 16, 1961, in Toronto, David married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Brenda Lawlor, who survives, along with their daughters: Heather (Scot) Millies of Chesterton, IN, Cindy (Mark) Chodan of Columbus, IN, and Mary Beth (Justin) Gaeta of Palos Heights, IL; 7 grandchildren; and 1 great-granddaughter.
Private family services have been held for David.
