David W. Steere, 80 of Valparaiso, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022. He was born June 15, 1942 in Chicago, IL to the late George and Rhoda (Work) Steere. Dave graduated from Liberty High School and made his career in the maintenance division of Ford Motor Company for over 30 years. He was a hardworking man, who, until 9 months ago, was still working at Napa Auto and Advance Auto in Valparaiso. In his spare time, you could find Dave keeping busy by tinkering in his house and garage. He also had fun racing cars and drag racing in his younger years. Dave will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by those who knew him.
On October 10, 1967, Dave married Beatrice Whitaker, who preceded him in death in 2014. He is survived by children: Nadine Kemp, Scott (Leah) Steere, Thomas (Lori) Steere; stepchildren: Tony Yoder, Mick Yoder, Randy Yoder, Kevin Yoder, Mark Yoder, and Sidonna Reed; brother, Jim (Joan) Steere; sister-in-law, Diane Laufenberg-Steere; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Steere; and stepsons: Max and Terry Yoder.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 on Friday, October 14, 2022, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles 805 Elm Street, Valparaiso, IN 46383.
