Deborah Sue Murray, 64 of Wanatah, passed away Monday, March 13, 2023, after a courageous battle with glioblastoma. She was born June 25, 1958 in Gary, IN to Robert Murray Sr. and Martha (Patterson) Orr. Deb graduated from Merrillville High School and Purdue University. She made her career as a Real Estate Appraiser and Realtor for over 25 years. Deb also enjoyed coaching softball in Merrillville and substitute teaching in Porter County. She loved tending to her plants and spending time with her beloved family. Deb will be remembered for her free-spirited personality and loving nature. Deb was a beautiful person whose legacy will live on in the lives she touched while she was here. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Deb is survived by her brother, Michael (Jennifer) Murray; sister, Barbara (Chuck) Jonas; nieces and nephews: Cody, Casey (Linsey), Kalyn, Declan, and Courtney; great-nieces and nephews: Ella, Cru, Iris, Levi, Hank, Otto, and Willa; and many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Kyle Preston Rickard; and brother, Robert Lee Murray Jr.
A celebration of Deb and her mother, Martha Orr, will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Central Christian Church, 1808 N. Campbell Street, Valparaiso, IN 46385. Lunch will follow at Jackson Farms Clubhouse, 594 E. US HWY 6, Westville, IN 46391.

My deepest condolences to Debbie’s family. She was such a bright light. She was close friends with my son Brian Wiles and he loved her like a sister. When my granddaughter was in a play, she came to see her act. Debbie was a kind soul and I will miss her spirit. -Sheila Carlson-Olejnik
