Debra Eileen Koontz, 57 of LaPorte, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, August 10, 2022. She was born October 25, 1964, in Valparaiso to Donald D. Wright and Christine (Edwards) Wright. Debbie graduated from Wheeler High School and made her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was a member of the American Legion Post 434 in Kingsford Heights. Debbie enjoyed bird watching, and spending time with her beloved son and granddaughter. She will be remembered as a caring person with a respectful nature. Debbie was a loving mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Debbie is survived by her son, Franklin Harley (Haley) Rigsby of LaPorte; granddaughter, Emersyn; nieces: Estelle (Dan) Rudd of LaCrosse and Sandee Combs of Hebron; brother, David (Linda) Wright of Valparaiso; nieces and nephews: Anthony, MaKenna, Dominic, Hunter, and Zander; and many loving extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Doris Jaroszewski and Donna Wright; and nephew, Alex Jaroszewski.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road, Valparaiso, IN, with a memorial service beginning at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Debbie’s GoFundMe Account or directly to Moeller Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
