Delos E. “Gene” Warne, 90 of Hanna, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024.  He was born December 3, 1933 in Morocco, Indiana to Delos Pierce and Alice Lorraine (Purdy) Warne.  A Veteran of the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne, Gene worked for 50 years between Standard Oil and Indiana Farm Bureau.  He was a member of the Hanna United Methodist Church and enjoyed handing out candy around the community and at South Central Athletic events and was known as “The Candy Man”.
On July 5, 1957 in Morocco, IN, Gene married Gayle Riley who preceded him in death on November 23, 1996.  He is survived by his children, Shawna (Kevin) Garner, Tamara (Rick) Webb, and Brian (Kim) Warne; grandchildren, Rebekah Garner, Kendra Lay, Ethan Garner, Randi (Matt) Ames, Jesse (Leanna) Webb, Niki (Terry) Russo, and Jason Warne; great grandchildren, Issac, Naomi, Kiara, Anigha, River, Steven, Jenlee, Neveha, Addison, Haylie, Kendall, Camden, Sydney, and Vinny; sisters, Joyce (Bill) Wagner, Janet (Tom) Allen, and JoAlice (Barney) Belt; sisters-in-law, Shari, Eleanor, and Cleota Warne; and many nieces and nephews.  Gene was also preceded in death by his parents; great grandchildren, Kayla and Kayden Ames; and siblings, Jack Warne, Jerry Warne, Robert Warne, and Judy (Bill) Armstrong.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Wanatah Funeral Chapel, 309 N. Main St., Wanatah, with a Funeral Service beginning at 12:00 PM.  Burial will follow at Hanna Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the South Central Athletic Department.
