Denise J. Heavilon, 71 of Valparaiso, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2025. She was born on January 22, 1954 in Frankfort, Indiana, the daughter of Richard and Levernia (Swift) Shelley. Denise was a 1973 graduate of Frankfort High School and was known for her big heart, strong will, and that her fiery hair equaled her fiery spirit. She was an avid Colts, Journey, and Guns N’ Roses fan and enjoyed finding treasures at garage sales, drinking coffee, and cooking. Denise loved to host for friends and family, especially around the holidays, and spending time with her granddaughter, Molly. Her love and fiery spirit will be greatly missed by all her friends and family.
Denise is survived by her children, Trudy Shelley and Casey (Sharon Christensen) Heavilon; grandchildren, Jade Shelley, Molly Heavilon, and Bransen and Seth East; great grandchildren, Zoey and Maxlyn Shelley; brother, Mike Shelley; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and three brothers.
A private family gathering will be held in remembrance of Denise.
