Diana Lynn Sonnenberg, 70, of Hebron passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2025. She was born March 27, 1955, to Gene & Mary (Gray) Birky and graduated from Hebron High School in 1973. Diana began her career with positions at Harvey’s Dime Store and 3-D department store in Valparaiso before becoming the Assistant Director of childcare at the Valparaiso YMCA for 25 years. She enjoyed the frequent gatherings with her high school classmates, tending to her yard and nurturing her flowers, and pampering the current generation of cats that made her house their home.
On September 25, 1976, she married Charles Sonnenberg who preceded her in death in 1999. Survivors include their son, Ryan (Lisa) Sonnenberg of Valparaiso, siblings: Robert (Karleen) Birky & Kathy (Kerry) DeYoung, and many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles & friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Charles Birky, and her beloved canine “Cooper”.
A family & friends celebration of Diana’s life will be held Sunday, November 9th from 1 – 4 pm at The Gathering Place, 131 N. Main St., Hebron, IN.
