Dolores (Puperi) Hallowell, 92, passed away on May 22, 2024, from prolonged, age-related illnesses.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 3:00- 7:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road, Valparaiso. Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, May 29th at 10:00 AM, with graveside services immediately following at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.
Formerly of Gary, Indiana, Dolores raised her four children (by her first husband, Joseph Bell) on her own after their divorce in the early 1960’s. Despite the challenges faced by a divorced woman at that time, Dolores utilized her admirable administrative skills in establishing a secure home and providing for her family as an administrative assistant, as well as volunteering as a Girl Scout troop leader.
She married the love of her life, Daniel Hallowell, in the early 1970’s, and moved to Valparaiso, Indiana, shortly thereafter. Dolores became an avid golfer, honing her golfing skills as a member of the Valparaiso Country Club, where her administrative skills were further put to good use on the various committees on which she served.
After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, and taught a computer course at an adult community college near their winter home in Green Valley AZ.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony Puperi, and her step-mother, Lila; beloved husband, Daniel Hallowell, and daughter, Karin Bell.
She is survived by her daughter, Antoinette (Greg) Pritchard of St. John, IN and Antoinette’s children Theresa, Angela and Patrick, their spouses, and 11 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; son Joseph Bell of Valparaiso, IN;  daughter Annette (Edward) Trader of Glenwood, WV,  and Ed’s nine children and their spouses, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren;  and daughter Linda (Kevin) Williams of Grand Rapids, MI; and their three children Stephanie, Meagan, and Ian Williams.
Floral arrangements are appreciated, Memorials may be made to Opportunity Enterprises, St. Jude Children’s Charity, Salvation Army or a charity of the donor's choice.
