Donald C. Bloom, 78 of Westville, passed away Friday, January 5, 2024. He was born April 25, 1945 in Chatham, Ontario, Canada the son of the late John Donald Bloom and Doris (Haskell) Carnegie. Donald’s love and passion was raising Angus cattle, which took him many places and provided many friendships over the years. Locally, he served as Superintendent of the Porter County Beef Project for 25 years, Porter County Fair Board for over 25 years, past President of the 4-H Council, past President of NWI Angus Association and past President of the Indiana Angus Association. Donald was also a member of the National Western Stock Show in Denver, CO and an honorary member of the American Angus Foundation. He enjoyed collecting antique tractors, attending cattle shows with his grandkids Bryce and Zayda, the National Western Angus Bull Sale, where he served as a judge in 2004, and helping his wife, Carol, with the Bloom Animal Clinic.
On February 2, 1974, Donald married Carol Payne who survives along with their daughter, Deanna (Josh) Hofing and children, Bryce and Zayda; step-son, Rex (Jennifer) Hayes and children, Logan, Kyle, and Wyatt; step-daughter, Denise (Dale) Klopfenstein and children, Katrena and Tyler; siblings, Sharon Provins, Wendy (John) Dike, and Ross (Linda) Carnegie; and special nephew, Donald (Janice) Provins. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Lisa Bloom in 2007.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 2:00-7:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a Funeral Service on Friday, January 12th at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Angelcrest Cemetery, Valparaiso in conclusion a luncheon.
