Donald L. Rowland, 69 of Valparaiso, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. He was born on June 25, 1954 in Gary, IN to William and Georgia (Jones) Rowland. He graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1972 and made his career as a maintenance worker at Valparaiso University. Donald proudly served in the United States Navy and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2517, VFW Post #988, and American Legion Post #94. Donald will be fondly remembered for his good sense of humor and enjoying the simplicities of life. He will be deeply missed.
Donald is survived by his siblings: Judith Aguilera, Sandra Biggs, Rita (Mike) Stephens, and Robert Rowland; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. A special thanks to JoAnn Veach for her years of friendship. He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Douglas Rowland; brothers: Ronald Rowland, Raymond Slagle, and Richard Slagle; brothers-in-law, John Aguilera and Ted Biggs; and sister-in-law, Diane Rowland.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024 from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 805 Elm St, Valparaiso, IN.

Soooo long ago Doug, Don & a bunch of us on the Southside of Valpo from a tender age of 9 or maybe earlier would play ball and hang at Southside Park for a lot of years. Hanging together thru school and growing up together then less time hanging. He was a good man and friend a whole alot of fond memories. May God Bless all of Don's loved ones.
