Donald Ray Webb, 87 of Valparaiso, IN, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. He was born February 28, 1938, in Ober, IN, to the late John and Elsie (Riggleman) Webb. Don graduated from Knox High School in 1957, where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame for his Track and Field excellence. Don proudly served in the US Navy for four years and achieved the rank of Second-Class Petty Officer, was entrusted as the captain’s driver, and supervised distributing parts to ships. He made his career with NIPSCO for 30 years, beginning as a meter reader and retiring as mechanical equipment operator in the gas division. Don also worked as a custodian for the Valparaiso School System, starting at the high school and eventually moving to the elementary schools, where he was loved by the students.
Don was a devoted member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Valparaiso where he had served as an usher and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 94 in Valparaiso. Don enjoyed going fishing, working on cars, barbequing, dancing with his wife, and learning to bake. He was a knowledgeable handyman who could fix anything. Don had a happy disposition, and you would often find him smiling and laughing. He loved to spend time with his family and friends, and will be remembered by them as a kind, loving, and caring person with an outgoing personality. Don will be dearly missed.
On February 18, 1984, Donald married Barbara McClanahan, who survives, along with his children: Sherry Golando and Donnie Webb, Jr.; stepchildren: Claudia (Jim) Abrahams, William Hampton, Robyn Peers, and Lea Summers; 4 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Johnny, Richard, and Robert Webb; and sisters: Alice Brunson, Shirley Shook, and Joanne Webb.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1855 Harrison Blvd., Valparaiso, with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, with military honors.
