Dorothy Elizabeth Ann Beck, 84 of Kouts, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, surrounded by family. She was born January 22, 1939, in Valparaiso to the late Walker and Verna (Soliday) Fifield. Dottie had an affinity for decorating, not only her home, but at church as well. She took pride in keeping up with the current fashion trends, and will be remembered for her signature hats and hankies. Dottie was a talented florist and cake decorator, who shared her gifts with others. Dottie cared deeply for her family and enjoyed cooking the meals at gatherings. She will be remembered for her determination through the adversity of her life. Dottie will be deeply missed.
On October 29, 1954, in Valparaiso, Dottie married the love of her life, William F. Beck, who survives, along with their children: LaDonna Trapp of Valparaiso, Vernon (Lisa) Beck of Hebron, William D. (Sherry) Beck of Sturgis, MI, and Shannon (John) Haberkamp of Kouts; grandchildren: Jessa (Bryan) Tilford, Natalie Beck, Katie (Zack) Bryan, Sonja (Blake) Gingerich, Brenna (Jason) Hostetter, Joshua (Amanda) Beck, Candace Beck, Timothy Beck, Kassie (Dan Burton) Haberkamp, and Felica (Don) Kuschel; 6 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Colleen (Les) Young and Earl Fifield. She was preceded in death by siblings: Fayette Zeiters, Larry Fifield, Gloria Denny, Joy Woods, and Ed Fifield.
A visitation will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Kosanke Funeral Home (new location), 309 S. Main St., Kouts. The funeral service will begin on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Hopewell Mennonite Church, 805 N. Main St., Kouts, with additional visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Kouts. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VNA Hospice of NWI.
