Douglas Edward Smith, 65, of Valparaiso passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2024, as the result of an accident. He was born June 24, 1959, to Max & June (Chambers) Smith and attended Hobart Schools. Doug had a hard time sitting still and loved to walk, staying on the go most of the time. Yardwork was a favorite activity because it kept him moving. Family connections were also important to Doug, ending every phone conversation with his sister, Carrie by saying “OK sister, God bless you, have a good day!”
Doug is survived by his sister, Carrie (Steve) Williams of Kouts and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers: Michael, Tony, Russell, Eugene, Max & Jeffrey Smith.
Following cremation at Angelcrest Crematory a private family committal of his urn will be held on the family burial plot at Woodward Cemetery in Dugger, Indiana.
