After moving to LaPorte and only previously getting care at the VA in Crown Point, Dr. Alvarez was the first real primary care Dr. I have had. Once I met him, he told me he was a Veteran as well. Being a Veteran myself, I instantly felt a connection that he would be a good fit for care. He's helped my wife and I so much, and I'm saddened by the news. I know he is one of a kind and he will be missed. I'm sorry to hear about this. Condolences and prayers go out to his family. -Tony and Jennifer Garcia

Until we meet again my dear neighbor. Rest in Peace. -Laura and Shane Scott

My heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Dr. Alvarez. I met Dr. Alvarez for the first time on Christmas Eve, the day before his passing, for a scheduled appointment as a new patient. After my previous doctor retired, the same doctor I had seen throughout my entire adult life, I was terrified to look for, and see a new doctor. After the many recommendations to see Dr. Alvarez, I chose him as my new doctor. Scared and nervous going into my first appointment on Christmas Eve, my fear instantly escaped the moment Dr. Alvarez opened the door and introduced himself. His comforting and positive personality and sense of humor was so calming, I knew right away that I had chose the right doctor. I was so excited to get home and tell my wife about my wonderful experience with her knowing how nervous I was going into my appointment, I even told her without a doubt he’s the right choice. I didn’t feel like I was talking to a doctor, it was like I was talking to just a normal blue collar person who I had no issue discussing my personal medical history with for the first time meeting him. I am very happy to have met him and to have had that interaction and experience with him. Unknowingly in his final days, just know he was still making a huge impact on new people that he just met for the first time. -Adam Lidgard

He was my doctor after my previous general practitioner Dr. Nirmala Murugavel retired for a couple of years during my residency in Laporte. I didn't know him much but when I did see him I genuinely liked. He was a good man and he will be missed and in my memory. -Noelle Echterling
