Eugene D. Kalwitz, 79, of Wanatah passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at the VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso. He was born April 24, 1943 in Valparaiso to Obed & Helen (Malaj) Kalwitz, Sr., graduated from Wanatah High School, and served proudly with the U.S. Air Force in the mid “60’s during the Vietnam era and Reserves in the mid ‘80’s. Eugene made his career with the Allis-Chalmers dealerships in LaPorte and then Plymouth for nearly 20 years finishing as the Parts Department manager in 1982. Work with Weil-McClain followed along with various other endeavors. He enjoyed his membership with American Legion Post #403 in Wanatah, traveling to Germany and Poland to seek out distant relatives, and activities at the Rumley Allis-Chalmers LaPorte Heritage Center. Many loving family members and friends survive to mourn his loss.
A committal service was held at Graceland Cemetery Mausoleum.
