Floyd Vernon “Bud” Worline, Sr., 77 of Valparaiso, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 31, 2024. He was born March 3, 1947, in Gary, IN, to the late Cleo Vernon Worline and Clara Louise (Casto) Worline. Bud graduated from Wheeler High School in 1965, and proudly served in the US Navy from 1965-1969 on the USS Boxer LPH4. He then made his career with US Steel Works in Gary from 1969-2003 in the Sheet and Tin #4CA Production Line. In his free time Bud enjoyed woodworking, golfing, fishing, gardening, playing the trumpet, and cheering for the Chicago Bears. He loved watching his grandkids in all of their many activities. Bud was a hardworking and selfless man who was often helping others. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who will be dearly missed.
On August 10, 1968, in Minneapolis, MN, Bud married JoAnne Wodarz, who survives, along with their children: Floyd (Stephanie) Worline, Jr. of Wanatah, and Lara (Scott) Stuteville of Ft. Wayne; grandchildren: Brittany, Savanna, Andy, and Matthew; and great-granddaughter, Kinsley. He was preceded in death by his brother, Wyatt Worline; and sister, Joyce Spoljaric.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 2610 N. Campbell St., Valparaiso, with a memorial service beginning at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Autism Speaks or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
