Fredric L. Schultz, Sr., 87 of Chesterton, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023.  He was born October 26, 1935 in LaPorte, IN to Elmer and Astrid (Peterson) Schultz.  Retiring in 1998, Fred had worked as a supervisor at Mid-West Steel and for 50 years, he operated Matt’s Mowing.  He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, where he was very involved.  If you attend Faith Lutheran, you most likely would have heard him singing in the choir or even a solo.  One of the pastors had a favorite phrase that was shared with Fred, “Looks good from my house.”  He was also a member of the Jaycees and served as a past chairman for the soapbox derby.  Fred was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking.
On June 1, 1957, Fredric married Carlene E. Malm who survives along with their children, Fredric (Rebecca) Schultz, Jr., David Schultz, Matthew (Laura) Schultz, and Jennifer (Stephen) Jacobs; grandchildren, Michael, Samuel, Sophia, Alexa, Casimir, and Drew; and siblings, Gerald Schultz and Doris Smith.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 12:00-1:00 PM at Faith Lutheran Church 753 N. Calumet Ave., Valparaiso, with a Funeral Service beginning at 1:00 PM.  Burial will follow at Angelcrest Cemetery, Valparaiso.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Dunes Hospice
