George Ross Barbee, 76, of Kouts formerly of Terre Haute passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023.  He was born June 30, 1946 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Wilmer W. & Mary Roxine (Heavner) Barbee and graduated from Wiley High School.  George made his career with AT & T for many years as a Line Tech in the era when maintaining phone lines required climbing poles digging holes.  His true passion was gunsmithing, and he became a much sought after craftsman who could fine tune nearly any weapon with the precision of a jeweler.   
On April 17, 1970 he married Donna Featherston who survives along with their two sons; Ross A. Barbee of Michigan City & Jeffrey Adam Barbee of Washington, and six grandchildren; Brytani, Emerald, Lily, Crissy, Aspen & Elija Joseph.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
Following cremation at Angelcrest Crematory a private family ceremony will be held along the banks of his beloved Wabash River in Vigo County.

I was just made aware of George’s passing and with a heavy heart I send my condolences. Being from Culver, I didn’t work with George daily, but over time we did work together and built a friendship that lasted. You may not remember me Donna, but I remember you. I will always remember George as a great guy with an occasional tough tough exterior but within, a guy with a big heart and as generous as the day is long.
